Mid-Autumn Festival, Thanksgiving, and Halloween in One Cozy Month

Hi Reader,

October is one of the busiest (and most special!) months of the year. Between fall traditions, family gatherings, and Halloween excitement, there’s so much to celebrate. Here’s what’s happening at Edkids Home this month.

🍎 Cozy Fall Family Traditions

Every October, we go apple picking with friends—something my kids look forward to all year. After bringing home baskets of apples, we bake fresh apple pies. The best part? Eating them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yummm! 🍎🥧🍦

We’re honoured to share that Edkids Home has been featured in Twinkl’s “Top Chinese Learning Websites for Kids 2025”! 🎉

This recognition means so much to us because Twinkl is a trusted educational platform used by parents and teachers worldwide. It’s an incredible feeling to be listed alongside other inspiring websites supporting bilingual families.

🌙 Mid-Autumn Festival

We also celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival—a time that feels like a Chinese version of Thanksgiving. My mom always cooks up a delicious family feast, and we gather together to eat, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. Of course, we also share mooncakes and light up colorful lanterns. It’s one of my favorite traditions, and it reminds us to be thankful for family and togetherness.

Hi Reader, December is here! ❄️ Before winter fully settles in, we spent the last few weeks doing trail walks as a family and admiring the fall colours. The forest was filled with reds, oranges, yellows, and soft browns—honestly mesmerizing, especially after spending so much time indoors in front of screens. My kids don’t love hiking as much as they used to, but we still go once in a while. It’s quiet, distraction-free, and a simple way for us to reconnect before the season gets busy. We’ve...

Hi Reader, Our family had a photoshoot wearing Kimonos in Tokyo. Last month, our family spent three unforgettable weeks in Japan, Hong Kong, and Thailand. ✈️ We learned so much—from navigating maps to experiencing new cultures firsthand—but the best part was seeing my kids reunite with their cousins in Hong Kong. They instantly connected and began to see how big and beautiful our family tree really is. 🌳 It was a wonderful reminder that some lessons—like gratitude, connection, and...
